When this product fits

For Finnish merchants who want customers to hand in a packed return using a short sending code. Suitable when printing an address label at home would add friction.

How the return moves

  1. Provide a valid sending code through the merchant’s supported Posti solution.

  2. The customer prepares the parcel and follows the code-marking instructions.

  3. Hand in at a supported Posti locker or service point and retain the shipment reference.

Label and hand-in requirements

Posti’s Finnish sending-code service allows customers to return parcels through Posti lockers and service points without printing an address label. The short code identifies the shipment and generates its transport barcode. Confirm the merchant’s supported sending-code solution and return instructions. This Finnish service does not establish identical return functionality across SmartPosti’s Baltic markets.

The exception to design around

Use the carrier-issued sending code, not an order number or improvised barcode. The Finnish code service does not establish the same product or acceptance procedure in other SmartPosti markets.

How to scope the transport and handling cost

Start with the real parcel profile and route. Ask who holds the carrier account, who issues labels and who receives the transport invoice. Compare the complete return movement with warehouse work priced separately. A customer-facing free return still has a payer behind it.

  • Origin postcode, receiving postcode and expected parcels per month.
  • Packed weight and dimensions, product category and any restricted contents.
  • Selected hand-in channel, printing arrangement and collection requirements.
  • Transport charges, relevant surcharges, customs work and failed-return handling.

Records that make a return traceable

Connect the order or RMA to the transport reference before the parcel leaves the customer. A portal request, carrier acceptance scan and warehouse receipt describe different events. Keep each one so customer service can identify where an exception occurred.

  • Return approval and the exact label or code issued.
  • Proof of hand-in or completed collection and the tracking reference.
  • Actual warehouse arrival, parcel condition and item-count reconciliation.
  • Inspection findings and the merchant’s approved next action.
Clear information for your next decision

What happens after carrier delivery

At the agreed receiving location, PickPaket’s handling scope is set for your project. Decide what must be recorded at arrival and which work can proceed automatically. Stock that needs a decision stays linked to its original reference.

Receive and reconcile

Match the parcel to its reference, record the agreed arrival information and separate unmatched or damaged arrivals for review.

Receiving & storage

Inspect to an agreed brief

Specify the checks, photos and grading criteria before work starts. Appearance checks, accessory counts and functional testing have different scopes.

Product checks

Release the next movement

Approve storage, repacking, restocking where applicable, or consolidation. Reconcile the release list before booking onward transport.
