Start with a defined batch
Describe the product category, expected parcels and units, arrival countries and intended destination. State whether cartons contain mixed SKUs and whether items need individual checking. These details determine which operations belong in the comparison.
Put each charge next to its unit
Ask whether receiving is charged per parcel, carton or unit. List inspection, photographs, packaging materials, storage and onward transport separately. Confirm minimum charges and what starts or ends a storage period. A community question about 3PL invoices illustrates why matching an invoice to the rate card can be difficult; it does not establish how often errors occur.
Connect return reasons to handling work
The EHI feed summary of its 2026 returns study highlights uneven return rates, fashion and greater use of data. For your own operation, distinguish a size-related return from visible damage or missing contents. Each may need a different check. These are suggested workflow categories, not findings about PickPaket customers.
Compare release scenarios
Price the same batch for individual forwarding and consolidated release, including handling and storage in both cases. Set a review date for held goods and keep a traceable item-to-carton record. Consolidation may change transport economics; savings depend on the actual batch and quotation.
