Customer returns from Italy

For Italian customer returns, settle the receiving route and merchant setup before choosing the easiest hand-in method. Poste Reverse, BRT Return My Parcel and GLS return products have different label and acceptance arrangements. A digital code is useful only when it belongs to the selected product and is used through its permitted channel.

Choose the product and receiving destination together

Poste Reverse lets the merchant supply the return transport document. BRT Return My Parcel offers a customer return portal and digital-label options. GLS describes PDF and label-free alternatives through its returns portal. Select the product that fits the actual origin and agreed receiving destination rather than treating the carrier’s Italian presence as proof of an international return lane.

Before launch, identify the account holder, label issuer and payer. Give customer service one approved route and an exception contact. Agree how a failed booking, incorrect address or duplicate return request is corrected while keeping the original order reference intact.

Separate paperless counters from locker preparation

Poste’s domestic product specification distinguishes paperless acceptance at enabled counters from lockers. BRT’s FAQ also separates a digital label at a fermopoint from the printed label required for a locker. Write the instructions around the actual selected acceptance point.

Give the customer the issued code or label, the correct point locator and the packaging requirements for that booking. Confirm packed dimensions before suggesting a locker. If the code fails, ask the customer to retain its reference and contact the booking owner rather than create an unrelated shipment that your receiving team cannot match.

Prepare the warehouse record before the parcel arrives

Capture the return authorisation and transport reference before hand-in. Save the available acceptance evidence separately from the later delivery event. For a collection, record the booking reference and whether the parcel was actually handed over; a scheduled visit is still an open task until its outcome is known.

At the agreed receiving site, match parcel, order and expected items. Record shortages, unexpected contents and visible damage for review. Specify whether the work includes accessory counts, photos or functional checks. Keep goods awaiting a decision identifiable, then release storage, consolidation or onward transport only under the merchant’s agreed authority.

Products for returns from Italy

These products document the customer’s return origin. The receiving country, merchant account and exact hand-in method must also fit the route. Network coverage alone does not confirm a bookable return.

Before you issue labels

  • Identify the Italian origin, receiving address and both postcodes; confirm any international return product.
  • Provide packed weight, dimensions, item category and expected parcels and units.
  • Choose a precise hand-in point or collection process and confirm its printing requirements.
  • Define receiving records, inspection criteria, exception decisions and the authorised release destination.

Local return questions

Does a QR code make every Italian locker usable?

Use the rules for the booked product. A BRT digital label does not remove its published locker printing requirement. Poste’s counter paperless process also has channel restrictions. Send the code with the correct hand-in instructions instead of asking the customer to choose any locker.

Does paperless mean the parcel can be returned without packaging?

Paperless concerns transport-document printing. Poste separately describes a Boxless option at enabled points. Confirm that specific option before telling the customer to arrive with an unpacked item; the booking and preparation instructions must agree.

Can several customer returns be combined before forwarding?

Plan consolidation after receiving and reconciliation. Preserve each customer reference through item checks, then agree the release list, packaging and receiving destination for the next movement. A return portal’s transport workflow does not itself define that warehouse work or approve refunds.
